SASKATCHEWAN WHOLESALE TRADE BEST IN CANADA

Saskatchewan's wholesale trade increased by an impressive 35 per cent in June 2011 compared to June 2010, according to Statistics Canada. That gives the province the highest percentage increase in Canada.

"When businesses and families are doing their financial planning for their future, they have a lot of confidence in today's Saskatchewan, and that has translated into higher retail sales, vehicle purchases and wholesale trade numbers across the province," Enterprise Minister Jeremy Harrison said.

On a monthly basis, Saskatchewan's wholesale trade increased by 3.6 per cent between May 2011 and June 2011, the third highest increase among the provinces. Nationally, wholesale trade was up 0.2 per cent.

"There have been significant improvements in wholesale trade over this past year, which is an encouraging trend when you consider the global economic uncertainty around the world," Harrison said. "In Saskatchewan we are bucking that trend and creating more jobs, more opportunities and a better quality of life."
