CONSUMERS WARNED ABOUT PENSION SCHEME

A cease and desist order is being served on National Business Investment In

Trust Inc. by the Saskatchewan Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

Saskatchewan Justice has received information that a representative of

National Business Investment In Trust Inc. is conducting business in Regina.

The company has a scheme that promises owners of locked-in pension plans

they can make tax-free withdrawals from their plans. The scheme has been

promoted with the claim 'convert your locked-in pension plan into

guaranteed money'. The arrangement involves the purchase of shares of a

private company. Part of the money used to buy shares is then loaned back

to the owner of the pension plan.

In Saskatchewan, lenders must be licensed under The Trust and Loans

Corporations Act, 1997 to conduct business in the province. National

Business Investment In Trust Inc. is not licensed as either a trust, loan

or financing corporation in Saskatchewan.

Consumers who have already signed contracts with National Business

Investment In Trust Inc. risk losing retirement savings and experiencing

significant tax consequences and are advised to contact their financial

institution to instruct them not to honour the contract.

Consumers who would like more information about this offer or similar

offers to convert locked-in pension plans or RRSPs to cash should contact

the Pension Benefits Branch of Saskatchewan Justice at 787-7650 .
