News Release - March 1, 2006 2006 SPRING SESSION BEGINS MARCH 14TH
Premier Lorne Calvert today announced that the spring sitting of the Second Session of the 25th Legislature will begin on Tuesday, March 14th, 2006.
The highlight of the session will be the 2006-07 Budget that will focus on the government's continuing commitments to youth; a green and prosperous economy; strengthening public health care, with a goal to building healthy lives, families and communities; promoting safe neighbourhoods and communities; and providing first rate services to Saskatchewan residents from our Crown Corporations. "Just as we did in the Throne Speech, our efforts in the Spring Session and the upcoming Budget will focus on ensuring that no one is left behind on the path to opportunity in Saskatchewan," Calvert said. "Our province is rich with promise, and we want everyone to be a full participant in that prosperity and opportunity." The specifics of the government's legislative agenda for the upcoming session are still being finalized. A number of Bills introduced in the fall, 2005 Session will also continue through the legislative process this spring. "It's an exciting time for our province, and I'm looking forward to working with my colleagues in Opposition and Government, to put forward a legislative agenda that meets the needs of Saskatchewan people," Government House Leader Glenn Hagel said. "We have much to look forward to if we work together on the issues that are important to the constituents we represent." -30- For More Information, Contact:
