SOD TURNING CEREMONY FOR EXPANDED HUDSON BAY HEALTH FACILITY

Health Minister Len Taylor today turned sod with community leaders for a construction project that will add long-term care beds to the Hudson Bay Health Care Facility.

"Providing local care for residents with ongoing health care needs improves the lives of the residents and their families," Taylor said. "The government is proud to invest in expanded capacity for people in this area."

"We are pleased to see this project moving ahead," Kelsey Trail Regional Health Authority chairperson Carol Hayward said. "The Hudson Bay Health Care Facility Long Term Care Bed Expansion allows area residents to receive care close to family, friends and their home community. This project was identified by Kelsey Trail Health Region as a priority."

The contractor for the project is Aizer Contracting Inc., of Fort Qu'Appelle. Planning and construction for the project is expected to cost $792,000. The province will pay $515,000. Fund-raising and contributions from local municipalities will cover the remaining costs, plus equipment and furniture.
