GOVERNMENT PROVIDES FUNDING FOR FRANCOPHONE COMMUNITIES

Francophone communities in Saskatchewan have until June 22, 2012, to apply for the Francophone Community Infrastructure Fund (FCIF).

"Saskatchewan's Francophones will once again have access to this infrastructure fund, which continues to strengthen French culture, language and traditions in our great province," Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard said. "I would like to encourage francophone communities and organizations to take advantage of this program."

FCIF provides $100,000 annually for capital projects that:

  • enhance access to, and promote francophone culture and the French language;
  • enhance the quality and use of francophone community facilities; and
  • create greater opportunities to hold events that support cultural vitality.

Funding may be provided for up to two-thirds of the required funds to a maximum of $50,000 per project. Applicants must contribute at least one-third of all eligible costs.

FCIF is managed by the Francophone Affairs Branch. Applications will be accepted from registered charitable organizations, non-profits and co-operatives applying on behalf of the francophone community.

Successful applicants will be contacted by the Francophone Affairs Branch.

Application material and additional information on FCIF can be found at www.ops.gov.sk.ca/FCIF.
