News Release - August 24, 2011 MINISTER NORRIS ATTENDS MEETING OF MINISTERS OF INNOVATIONInnovation Minister Rob Norris and colleagues from across the country are meeting today with the chair of the Federal Research and Development Review Panel to discuss important issues facing Canada's innovation sector. "Saskatchewan has taken significant steps in establishing ourselves as an innovation leader," Norris said. "Today's meeting gives us the opportunity to ensure that Saskatchewan's perspective is reflected in the discussions with the federal review panel. Minister Norris will be joined by the incoming CEO of Innovation Saskatchewan, Jerome Konescni. Mr. Konescni's appointment as CEO was announced last week. Created in 2009, Innovation Saskatchewan is the central agency of the Government of Saskatchewan with responsibility for implementing Saskatchewan's innovation priorities. Innovation Saskatchewan coordinates the strategic direction of the government's research and development and science and technology expenditures; provides advice on science and technology policy; coordinates the establishment and maintenance of science, research and development infrastructure; and provides advice and recommendations on research, development, demonstration, and the commercialization of new technologies and innovative processes in Saskatchewan. -30- For more information, contact:
