UPGRADING TWO SCHOOLS IN THE NORTH BATTLEFORD AREA

The provincial government is investing $296,000 on renovations to two schools in the Landswest School Division.

"We are investing in schools, in students, and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Judy Junor said.

The Landswest School Division will receive $240,000 to install a new fire suppression system and upgrade the fire alarm system at Unity Composite School, and $56,000 for a roof replacement at Luseland School. These projects will be cost-shared with the Landswest School Division.

"With the $36 million in the Saskatchewan Learning K-12 capital budget, which includes $4.6 million from the Centenary Fund, approximately 140 K-12 school construction, renovation or upgrading projects will be funded in communities around the province this year," Junor said.

Additional projects in other school divisions throughout the province will be announced over the remainder of the fiscal year to March 31st, 2004.

"This school improvement project is part of the government's commitment to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students," Junor said. "Investing in education enriches our communities and ensures a wide open future for Saskatchewan students."
