SASKATCHEWAN PAVILION PARTNERS CREATE LASTING LEGACY

Young people in amateur sport, culture and recreation benefit

 The Government of Saskatchewan announced corporate and city partners who will be represented in the Saskatchewan Pavilion during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games and will contribute to a new Legacy Fund.

The corporate and city partners will receive high-profile recognition during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games through things such as a Feature Day, a Business Centre kiosk or a private reception inside the Saskatchewan Pavilion.

As well, fifty per cent of partnership dollars stay in the province with the Saskatchewan 2010 Legacy Fund. This fund will benefit Saskatchewan young people into the future through the betterment of amateur sport, culture and recreation in the province.

"With all the excitement around the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, we can now leave a lasting legacy for our young people right here at home," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said.

"The Saskatchewan 2010 Legacy Fund will be used to help increase capacity in the volunteer sport, culture and recreation sector," Sask Sport Inc. President Dale Holmes said. "We will continue to work together toward the vision that all Saskatchewan people can participate in activities to the extent of their interest and abilities."

"We are pleased to be a corporate partner in the Olympic Pavilion," The Mosaic Company Senior Vice President - Potash Operations Norm Beug said. "This is an opportunity for us to showcase our company to the world and support Saskatchewan's sport, culture and recreation through the Legacy Fund. We believe that strength in those areas is an important part of what makes Saskatchewan such a great place to do business."

Corporate and city partners include Mosaic Potash, Saskatchewan Lotteries, Saskatchewan Pulse Growers, Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission, City of Saskatoon, City of Regina, City of Lloydminster, City of North Battleford, City of Martensville, Partners in Motion, Phoenix Group, University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan and Tourism Saskatchewan and the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan.

"The 2010 Winter Olympic Games is an incredible opportunity to market our province as the place for investment, tourism and immigration to an international audience," Duncan said.

There are more than $793,000 in commitments from corporate and city partners. Partnership agreements range from $15,000 to $200,000. More agreements could be signed in the next couple of weeks.
