News Release - April 26, 2005 ISC AND SASKATCHEWAN CENTENNIAL 2005 LAUNCH UNIQUE CHILD AND YOUTH ART CONTEST
Information Services Corporation of Saskatchewan (ISC) and Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 have launched a unique project that will involve children and youth in the province's centennial celebrations.
Children and youth aged 2-12 are being encouraged to draw a picture of some aspect of Saskatchewan's land, and submit it to ISC. Artwork could include a farmyard, a house, a rolling valley, a lake, or anything to do with the land in Saskatchewan. Young artists simply need to make sure their work shows off Saskatchewan's wonderful landscapes. The first 3,000 children who submit an entry will receive a specially designed ISC/Centennial T-shirt, and all entries will be displayed on ISC's centennial website. "This contest provides a great opportunity for youth to both expand their knowledge of this wonderful province, and to become involved in this historic event," Minister responsible for ISC Eric Cline said. "Saskatchewan's centennial is a celebration of our history but it's also a celebration of our future, and today's youth will shape and define that future," Saskatchewan Centennial 2005 Chair and Moose Jaw North MLA Glenn Hagel said. "I am pleased that ISC is providing young people with this wonderful opportunity to share their pride in our province during the centennial year." ISC is the provincial Crown corporation that is responsible for the administration of provincial land titles, surveys, geographic information services as well as the Personal Property Registry. Through its land titles division, ISC has been involved in granting and titling land in the province since 1886. Posters outlining details of the contest are being distributed to a range of community organizations across the province including: recreation centres, arts organizations, libraries and day care centres.
