TEACHER/STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK PROCLAIMED

February 13th-19th, 2005, has been proclaimed as Saskatchewan's 18th Annual National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

Learning Minister Andrew Thomson attended the launch of Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week at Elizabeth School in Kindersley today. "Celebrating this important week gives us the chance to demonstrate our appreciation to Saskatchewan's teachers and support staff for their contributions to the young people of our province," Thomson said. "Their dedication helps provide a learning environment that supports the well-being of our young people, their families, and all Saskatchewan citizens."

National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is orchestrated across Canada by the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils. Celebrations during the week include brunches, teas, prize draws, and daily treats for teachers and staff.

"Teachers and staff form an integral part of the education success of our children and youth," Thomson added. "They contribute to students' social, cultural, emotional and physical development, and play a major role in the economic and social growth of the province."
