News Release - October 25, 2004 VICTIM SERVICES WEEK BEGINS TODAY
Today marks the beginning of Victim Services week in Saskatchewan, a week-long event that aims to increase understanding about the needs of victims of crime and recognize the contribution of hundreds of volunteers in Victim Services Programs across the province.
Each year, approximately 300 Victim Services volunteers give over 17,000 hours of their time to help almost 15,000 victims of crime in Saskatchewan. "Victim Services volunteers unselfishly give of their time and talents to assist victims of crime in Saskatchewan," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said. "These people have made and continue to make a big difference in the lives of victims of crime in this province." Victim Services Week takes place from October 25th-31st with celebrations throughout the province. Various volunteer recognition events will be held in Nipawin, Regina, Prince Albert, Estevan, Saskatoon, Swift Current, the Battlefords and Moose Jaw. -30- For More Information, Contact:
