AUTO GALLERY 1994 LTD., PLEADS GUILTY TO LABOUR STANDARDS VIOLATIONS

Auto Gallery 1994 Ltd., of Regina has pled guilty to three violations under Saskatchewan's Labour Standards Act.

The charges include one count of failure to provide records in violation of Section 66(c) of the Act and two counts of unlawful deductions in violation of Section 59 of the Act. The business was fined a total of $1,440.

The Labour Standards Branch of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and Regulations as well as other labour legislation. Wherever necessary, violations will be prosecuted.

So far this fiscal year, the Labour Standards Branch has received 2,245 complaints and as a result, conducted 2,028 investigations which identified a total of $1.5 million dollars being owed to employees. In the same time frame, the Branch has had 18 cases for prosecution before the courts; with 14 cases now resulting in successful convictions.
