PREMIER ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO SENIOR PUBLIC SERVICE

Premier Brad Wall today announced a number of changes in the leadership of the Saskatchewan Public Service.

Wall said these changes are important for the revitalization and utilization of leadership abilities within the Public Service.

"Saskatchewan has one of the best leadership teams of any Public Service in Canada, and our government is always looking for ways to make improvements by ensuring the best use of our top people within the government," Wall said. "I recently asked my Deputy Minister Doug Moen to do an assessment and develop a plan for changes to the senior Public Service, and today we are acting on that plan."

The changes are as follows:

• Clare Isman moves from Chair of the Public Service Commission (PSC) to become Deputy Minister of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour (AEEL);
• Wynne Young moves from Deputy Minister of AEEL to become Deputy Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport (TPCS);
• Van Isman moves from Deputy Minister of TPCS to become Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs;
• Don Wincherauk moves from Deputy Minister, Information Technology Office (ITO), to become Chair of the PSC;
• Gerald Fiske becomes Deputy Minister of ITO;
• Marian Zerr moves from Associate Deputy Minister, Cabinet Planning in Executive Council, to become Deputy Minister of Social Services;
• Harley Olsen moves from Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs to become Associate Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs within Executive Council (Intergovernmental Affairs became part of Executive Council as part of the recent cabinet changes);
• Allan Hansen, Deputy Minister of Social Services and Terry Coleman, Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs are leaving the Public Service.

"I want to thank these senior leaders in the Public Service for taking on new responsibilities," Wall said. "Their leadership is critical to public service renewal and to advancing the government's agenda for the people of Saskatchewan.

"In addition, I want to thank Allan Hansen and Terry Coleman for their service to the people of Saskatchewan and wish them well in their future endeavours."
