CITY OF MEADOW LAKE RECEIVES CDTF FUNDING
The Government of Saskatchewan announced the approval of $400,000 for the community of Meadow Lake under the Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF).
The funding will be used to assist with Phase II of Meadow Lake's Storm Water Project. Phase II of this project will improve the community's current drainage system and allow city crews to operate more efficiently. This will include the implementation of upgraded storm lines and trenching around the west area of the city, and the installation of a large storm trunk line.
"These updates and improvements will help alleviate challenges being faced by many residents on the west side of the city, as well as helping to maintain current businesses and attract new enterprises to the community," Enterprise Minister and Minister responsible for Trade Jeremy Harrison said. "Meadow Lake is a growing city. Keeping pace with our infrastructure challenges will be key in continuing to move our economy forward."
Phase I of the Storm Water Project was completed in September 2010.
The federal government announced a $1 billion CDTF in 2008 to help support activities that strengthen economic opportunities for communities negatively affected by global financial and commodity market disruption. Saskatchewan's share of the fund is $36.4 million over three years.
