GOVERNMENT RECEIVES REPORT FROM FRANCOPHONE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard received the seventh report from the Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs today on the government's French-language Services Policy.

"I would like to thank the members of the advisory committee for their thoughtful recommendations," Elhard said. "There is a high degree of interest within government for citizen-centred services and I am pleased that the committee has framed its recommendations in terms of improving services to the people of our province."

Thirteen recommendations are highlighted within the report. The recommendations focus on making better use of online services and existing resources to meet the needs of Saskatchewan's francophone community.

The recommendations are based on consultations with the government and representatives from across the francophone community.

The French-language Services Policy was adopted in 2003. The committee was created in 2009 to advise the Provincial Secretary on the implementation of Saskatchewan's French-language Services Policy. Providing services in French allows the government to meet the needs of the people of Saskatchewan while continuing to attract French-speaking newcomers to our province.
