News Release - January 7, 2003 SEEKING ABORIGINAL GRADUATES
Applications are being accepted for the Aboriginal Management and
Professional Internship Program, a program that provides Aboriginal university graduates with experience working in the Saskatchewan public service. The internship program provides successful applicants with two-year term positions complete with salary and benefits. Aboriginal graduates who have received their degree in the last five years are encouraged to apply. "This program allows interns to supplement their education with hands-on, professional experience," Minister Responsible for the Public Service Commission Joanne Crofford said. "Interns will be better equipped to apply for future job openings." The program will provide interns with a strong foundation for future careers in the provincial public service. By working with the growing Aboriginal population, the Government can ensure the public service reflects Saskatchewan's diverse population and provides the services Saskatchewan people need. Current interns are employed in various departments throughout government. Through rotating job assignments and learning opportunities, these interns are involved in areas such as policy development, program delivery, human resources, communications, finance and planning. Application forms and other information about the program are available on the Public Service Commission's Web site at http://www.careers.gov.sk.ca. Forms are also available at universities, band offices, SIAST campuses, regional colleges, Aboriginal employment centres and Canada-Saskatchewan Career and Employment Services locations throughout the province. The deadline for applications is February 28th, 2003. -30- For more information, contact: Colleen Hawkesford Public Service Commission Regina Phone: (306) 787-5581 |
