News Release - July 31, 2007 BUILDING COMMUNITIES PROGRAM BENEFITS MACKLIN AREA FAMILIES WITH $190,000 INVESTMENT
Swimmers in Macklin will soon enjoy greater access to their favourite summer activity, thanks to a $190,050 Building Communities Program contribution to the Macklin and District Aquatic Centre.
"Macklin is a vibrant town with a relatively young and energetic population," Health Minister Len Taylor said. "This Building Communities Program investment will encourage physical activity and help build sustainable recreational infrastructure that can be enjoyed for years to come." Taylor was in Macklin today to announce funding for the new Macklin and District Aquatic Centre. The provincial investment will go toward construction of a new public pool, a spray pool and toddler area. The facility is expected to serve the summer recreational needs of families throughout Macklin and the surrounding area. "This project is yet another stepping stone toward the enhancement and long term sustainability of our community," Macklin Mayor Patrick Doetzel said.
