News Release - April 20, 2006 UPGRADING SIX PRINCE ALBERT AREA SCHOOLS
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing approximately $1.2 million to improve six schools in Prince Albert and surrounding areas.
"The future of our province will be defined by young people," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. " We need to access every advantage our society and economy can provide to ensure that they achieve excellence in our education system. Investing in our schools will go a long way toward helping students reach their potential." The capital projects include: • The Prince Albert Roman Catholic School Division will receive approximately $233,000 for a rooftop ventilation unit replacement at Holy Cross School and a roof replacement at St. Francis School in Prince Albert; • The Prince Albert Roman Catholic School Division will receive approximately $256,000 for two new relocatable classrooms at St. Anne Elementary School in Prince Albert; • The Saskatchewan Rivers School Division will receive approximately $409,000 for renovations at Debden School; • The Saskatchewan Rivers School Division will receive approximately $302,000 to replace the boiler and heating system at Prince Albert Collegiate Institute; and • The Saskatchewan Rivers School Division will receive approximately $169,000 for a roof replacement at Canwood School. These projects will be cost-shared with the school divisions listed above. The projects are part of the provincial government's investment of $7 million to improve the learning environment in 55 Saskatchewan schools. Including these projects, the total commitment by government to K-12 capital projects this fiscal year is $22 million "These projects demonstrate our continued commitment to working with school divisions to improve the learning environment in Saskatchewan schools," Higgins said.
