News Release - June 9, 2008 JUNE 30 DEADLINE FOR CROP INSURANCE REVIEWFarmers have less than a month left to make recommendations on how to improve the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance program. Meyers Norris Penny, the independent firm contracted to conduct the review of Crop Insurance, is holding public meetings across the province until June 18 and will accept written submissions and online surveys until June 30. "We need to fix the program so it works for farmers," Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud said. "This review is a great opportunity for producers to tell us exactly what is working and what is not." Saskatchewan producers have three ways to ensure their views are heard - by sending in a written submission, participating in a community meeting or taking part in a survey. A personalized package was sent out to every contract holder in April that advised them of how to get involved. Over 350 producers have provided feedback to date. "We intend to begin making improvements to the program for the 2009 growing season," Bjornerud said. Producers can get more information about the Crop Insurance review by visiting www.skcropinsurancereview.ca or by calling Meyers Norris Penny at 1-866-622-2767. -30- For more information, contact: Scott Brown Related Documents
