ESTEVAN RECEIVES $300,000 TO CONTINUE TARGETED POLICE INITIATIVES

Corrections and Policing, through the Ministry of Justice, contributed $300,000 to the City of Estevan for three police officers who conduct comprehensive investigations and work on a number of proactive, community-based policing initiatives in order to help reduce crime.

The Government of Saskatchewan’s Targeted Police Initiatives is responding to community crime-related priorities through the Enhanced Community Policing Program and the Organized/Serious Crimes Task Force Program.

“We’re pleased to continue Estevan’s funding for targeted police initiatives to reduce crime,” Estevan MLA Doreen Eagles said on behalf of Corrections and Policing Minister Christine Tell. “Estevan’s effort exemplifies how targeting specific community needs to reduce crime demonstrates partnership and a dedication to community betterment.”

“The Estevan Police Service is grateful for the continued support from Corrections and Policing, through the Ministry of Justice,” Estevan Police Chief Del Block said. “These positions are valuable in our community and help to ensure that Estevan is a safe place to live.”

This annual funding through the Targeted Police Initiatives offer grants that support police-based efforts to reduce crime, victimization and the prevention and intervention of at-risk populations.
