CENTENARY FUND CONTRIBUTES TO THREE LAKES AREA FIRE HALL

RM of Three Lakes area residents will soon have a new fire hall thanks to a contribution from the province's Centenary Fund.

The province contributed $7,500 toward the cost of the new $63,000 fire hall. The 2,000 square foot facility is large enough to house a fire truck and a water tanker as well as a training/meeting room. The Three Lakes Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of the RM of Three Lakes, and the villages of Middle Lake, Pilger, and St. Benedict.

"This new fire hall is an excellent example of the diverse ways that Saskatchewan people are partnering with government to build on the excellent quality of life in Saskatchewan," Saskatoon Idylwyld MLA David Forbes said, on behalf of Government Relations Minister Ron Osika. "The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to support this project which will enhance the safety and well-being of the people of the RM of Three Lakes."

"This is an important step forward in making our community safer from the unpredictable ravages of fire," St. Benedict Mayor Blake Peters said. "The project was financially supported through the provincial government's Centenary Fund and the collective support of our citizens."

The Centenary Fund was set up to leave a legacy of Saskatchewan's Centennial for future generations. Leading up to the centennial celebrations in 2005, the government is funding projects that are of provincial or regional interest and develop municipal infrastructure. Under the Centenary Fund, Saskatchewan communities will receive $120 million over four years, toward their centennial projects.
