INDIVIDUALS HONOURED WITH SASKATCHEWAN PROTECTIVE SERVICES MEDAL

Lieutenant Governor Lynda Haverstock presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal for the first time to 55 recipients at the Legislative Building in Regina today. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 cumulative years of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property.

"The citizens of Saskatchewan are grateful for the sacrifices made by protective services personnel," Haverstock said. "It is fitting that we formally recognize the tremendous contributions of the courageous men and women who make our lives more safe and secure."

The Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal was established in 2003. Presentation ceremonies will be held throughout the province.

Recipients of the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal include people in areas such as Fire Protection Services; Police Services; Canada Customs and Revenue Agency; Citizenship and Immigration Canada; Emergency Medical Services; Canadian Forces; Conservation Offices and Parks; Highways and Transportation Transport Compliance Branch; and Corrections.
