CAMPGROUND ELECTRIFICATION FOR TWO PROVINCIAL PARKS

Two provincial parks will receive campground electrification this year.

Buffalo Pound is upgrading 50 electrified campsites at Shady Lane Campground. Saskatchewan Landing is installing 23 new electrified campsites at Bearpaw Campground.

"Demand for electrical campsites continues to increase," Environment Minister Buckley Belanger said. "Funding for these projects enables us to improve the quality of services and safety we offer to park visitors to meet their demands."

The money for these projects is from the province's four-year, $120 million Centenary Fund. Total cost of these projects is $231,000: Buffalo Pound ($138,000) and Saskatchewan Landing ($93,000).

The Centenary Fund was developed so important capital projects can be completed as Saskatchewan approaches its Centennial in 2005.
