News Release - April 19, 2007 MEDIA ADVISORY (SPRUCE RIVER DAM AT ANGLIN LAKE)As a result of increasing inflows into Anglin Lake the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority will be increasing the outflow from the Spruce River Dam on April 20, 2007. Outflows will be continued from Emma and Christopher Lakes. The effect of this operation will be to increase the outflows from Christopher and Anglin lakes from 3.4 cubic metres per second (m3/sec) to 7.1 m3/sec. These flows are approximately 80 per cent of the peak flows released in May 2006. The operations are intended to minimize the increase in the lake levels with the spring runoff presently flowing into the three lakes. It is expected that high flows will continue through the spring melt and then be gradually reduced as lake level conditions improve. The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority will monitor lake levels and any downstream impacts on an ongoing basis. -30- For more information, contact: Don Dill |
