UPGRADING THREE SCHOOLS IN REGINA

The provincial government is investing $410,000 on an addition and renovations to three schools in Regina.

"We are investing in schools, in students, and in the future of Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Judy Junor said.

The capital improvement projects include:

• The Regina Catholic School Division will receive $104,000 for a new portable classroom at Dr. Martin Leboldus High School;

• The Regina Public School Division will receive $290,000 to begin foundation upgrades to the 1968 section of Campbell Collegiate; and,

• The Regina Public School Division will receive $16,000 for wheelchair accessibility at Thom Collegiate.

These projects will be cost-shared with the Regina public and Catholic school divisions.

"With the $36 million in the Saskatchewan Learning K-12 capital budget, which includes $4.6 million from the Centenary Fund, approximately 140 K-12 school construction, renovation or upgrading projects will be funded in communities around the province this year," Junor said.

Additional projects in other school divisions throughout the province will be announced over the remainder of the fiscal year to March 31st, 2004.

"This school improvement project is part of the government's commitment to invest in modern, well-equipped learning facilities for Saskatchewan students," Junor said. "Investing in education enriches our communities and ensures a wide open future for Saskatchewan students."
