COMMUNITY SHARE 2006 FUNDING FOR PRINCE ALBERT AND AREA

The city of Prince Albert will receive $1,173,781 from the Community Share 2006 Program.

The Community Share 2006 program provides $32 million for Saskatchewan's 802 urban, rural and northern municipalities on a per capita basis.

"Community Share 2006 allows local communities to decide what capital projects to fund for the benefit of its residents," Government Relations Minister Harry Van Mulligen said. "In this way the provincial government is sharing the benefits of our current strong economy with our communities."

Capital projects under Community Share 2006 can include options like a wheel-chair ramp at the local seniors centre, the purchase of a set of swings for the playground, the purchase of life-saving firefighting equipment, repairs to a bridge or street, a skate-board park, or used to contribute to a recreation or sports complex. Funds can be invested in energy saving enhancements to public facilities, used to assist in the purchase of road building equipment, or invested in safe drinking water.

Communities can pool these funds with their neighbouring communities to fund joint projects that will benefit the larger community.

A list of funding for the area municipalities is attached.
