SPRING RUNOFF INFORMATION LINE OPERATIONAL FOR 2009

A toll-free telephone line providing spring runoff information is once again in operation for the 2009 runoff season.

Callers around the province can dial 1-866-501-0888 (787-4742 in Regina) to find out about runoff conditions in their area, including runoff amounts and water levels.

The Runoff Roundup phone line provides an overview of the potential runoff for the entire province, as well as more detailed information for each region of the province: northeast, northwest, southeast, east central and southwest.

The line is updated every Wednesday as soon as spring runoff begins until the majority of the snowpack in each region has thawed.

Transcripts of the Runoff Roundup updates are also available on the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority's website, www.swa.ca.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority also issues a Provincial Streamflow Forecast which describes the general water supply conditions in the province and provides forecasts of expected flow conditions and lake levels.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority regulates and controls the flow of many water bodies such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs, and provides flood forecasting for the province.
