SEMINARS ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT PROVINCIAL LABOUR STANDARDS

Ever wanted to know the ins and outs of calculating holiday pay for employees, or what minimum call out pay is?

The answers to these and other questions are the focus of an educational seminar being held at Weyburn’s Southeast Regional College, 629 King Street, March 6 from 1 – 3 p.m.

“The Labour Standards Act covers a lot of ground and impacts both employers and employees in very real and significant ways,” Labour Minister David Forbes said.  “It’s important that people have an opportunity to ask questions about this legislation.  This is one in a series of seminars being held across Saskatchewan to answer the questions employers and employees typically face on the job.”

Saskatchewan’s Labour Standards Act covers a wide range of topics, so seminars will focus on some commonly asked questions relating to a variety of subjects, including:

• Overtime;
• Work schedules and rest periods;
• Steps employers must take to lay off a worker;
• Family related leaves, and
• Resolving problems and addressing complaints.
