APPOINTMENTS BRING EXPERIENCED MEMBERS TO CANCER AGENCY BOARD

Three new members have been added to the board of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA), which provides cancer prevention and treatment services in the province.

Educational administrator Denis Caron, chartered accountant Gordon Joyce and SGI president and CEO Jon Schubert were appointed by the province to three year terms on the board. Eight existing members were reappointed to the board.

"I am pleased that the Agency was able to attract people with strong business, financial and leadership skills," Health Minister John Nilson said of the appointments. "With frequent new advances in cancer research, and the rapidly rising costs of treatment, we need people who can apply skills from a business environment to the oversight of a key organization like the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency."

Board chair Gary Semenchuck welcomed the new members and thanked departing board members Marion Heavin, of Melfort, Dolores Herring, of Weyburn, the former president of the Saskatchewan Division of the Canadian Cancer Society, and the late Dolores Tumbach, of Leader, for their years of service.
