ANOTHER JUMP IN OPPORTUNITIES POSTED TO SASKJOBS.CA

Continued employer demand has fuelled another jump in opportunities available on the SaskJobs.ca website.

A total of 9,579 jobs were posted to the site by Saskatchewan employers in September 2010, an 8.3 per cent increase over the same month last year. Jobs were posted in 266 communities around the province.

Since January 1, employers have placed 82,860 jobs on the site.

"This is another good news story for Saskatchewan," Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister Rob Norris said. "We have the fastest growing population in the country, the lowest unemployment rate and a growing number of opportunities for our citizens."

Of the 9,579 jobs posted in August:

  • More than two thirds were full-time positions;
  • More than half were located outside of Saskatoon and Regina; and
  • More than a quarter were in the Trades and Transport category.

September 2010 also saw more than 779,000 visits to SaskJobs.ca - a 29 per cent increase over the same month last year. Of note, the site recorded a record 35,414 visits on September 20. Access from mobile internet devices has trended upward as well, with 14,521 visits recorded in September.

"While we've seen more people than ever in the province, employer demand across Saskatchewan has also grown," Norris said. "Right now, there are more than 6,800 vacancies listed on SaskJobs.ca."

SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-matching website. The site provides job posting services free of charge for Saskatchewan employers across the province and in every sector of the economy.
