LEBOLDUS SCHOOL DEDICATES NEW FINE ARTS AREA

Saskatchewan Learning is investing $350,000 in renovations to the Fine Arts area at Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School in Regina. The renovations included new band and choral rooms and improvements to the theatre, dance studio and visual arts classroom.

"The funding provided for this project reflects the provincial government's commitment to providing modern, well-equipped learning facilities across Saskatchewan," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "This investment will provide students with space in which to realize their full creative potential."

"The promotion of the fine arts is an important aspect of Catholic education," Regina Catholic School Division Board Chair Paul Malone said. "This new arts education centre provides the students and staff of Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School with a state of the art facility for learning, teaching and showcasing their artistic achievements. The Board of Regina Catholic Schools is grateful to the Department for its contribution to this important project."

"Having a space in which to explore the fine arts is important to all students," Thomson added. "Participation in the arts encourages creativity, individuality, and self expression, and teaches important critical thinking skills. Artistic expression contributes to, and frequently challenges, our view of the world around us, leading to an improved understanding of ourselves and others."
