News Release - October 27, 2006 TRIANGLE ELECTRIC LTD. RECEIVES POWER OF BUSINESS AWARD
Triangle Electric Ltd. is the latest small Saskatchewan business to be recognized by SaskPower, receiving the corporation's Power of Business Award today. The firm, located in Estevan, is an electrical contractor providing construction services at SaskPower's Shand, Boundary and Poplar River coal-fired generating stations in southern Saskatchewan.
"Triangle Electric has done a great job for SaskPower for seven years," Minister responsible for SaskPower John Nilson said. "Triangle Electric delivers high quality at a competitive price in a highly skilled trade." Triangle Electric Ltd. has performed electrical construction work for the corporation valued at more than $5.7 million since 1999. "Work for SaskPower accounts for nearly all we do," Triangle Electric president Frank Schaefer said. "We have smaller customers, but they come about as a result of the work we've done for SaskPower." "SaskPower annually spends about $260 million in Saskatchewan to buy more than 80 per cent of its goods and services at home," SaskPower Quality Assurance supervisor Jim Mabee said. "Suppliers in this province are vital contributors toward SaskPower's mission of delivering power safely, reliably, cost-effectively and in an environmentally responsible manner." Work for SaskPower has helped Triangle Electric employ approximately six people on a regular basis. Triangle Electric hires employees, as it requires, in co-operation with Local 2038 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Since SaskPower's Quality Assurance and Supplier Development program began 23 years ago, SaskPower has purchased more than $4.5 billion in goods and services from Saskatchewan suppliers. -30- For More Information, Contact:
