News Release - September 20, 2010 SASKATCHEWAN’S PROTECTIVE SERVICES PERSONNEL HONOUREDLieutenant Governor Gordon Barnhart and Municipal Affairs Minister Darryl Hickie on behalf of Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal to 27 recipients in Prince Albert today. "It is my pleasure to acknowledge and thank those who are committed to making our communities better, safer places to live, work and raise a family," Hickie said. "From one corner of the province to the other, there is not a single community in Saskatchewan that has not benefited from the fine work carried out by these men and women. We are truly grateful for their dedication." The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity. Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
