INQUEST INTO THE DEATH OF JAIDAN LYNN SLAFEREK

A public inquest into the death of Jaidan Lynn Slaferek has been scheduled for February 25 through March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina.

Slaferek, 17, died after a fall at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina on January 15, 2012.

Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999 states that the Chief Coroner may direct that an inquest be held into the death of any person.

The Office of the Chief Coroner is responsible for the investigation of all sudden, unexpected deaths.  In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died, the medical cause of death and the manner of death, the coroner's jury can make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.

Coroner Brent Gough, Q.C., of Saskatoon will preside at the inquest.
