News Release - May 20, 1999 RESPONSIBLE USE OF ALCOHOL IN PROVINCIAL PARKS
Saskatchewan Environment and Resource Management (SERM) today issued a
reminder to all park visitors that they will be enforcing the responsible use of alcohol at all provincial parks and recreation sites. Park visitors may consume alcoholic beverages at their campsite as long as they do so in a responsible and quiet manner. However, individuals abusing alcohol, or otherwise creating a disturbance, will be charged or evicted from the park. The department will be applying zero tolerance to minors possessing or consuming alcohol. In past years, the May long weekend has produced the greatest problems in provincial parks. SERM wants campers to enjoy their park visit in a safe environment and not have it ruined by individuals abusing alcohol. - 30 - For more information, contact: Dave Harvey Enforcement and Compliance SERM Prince Albert Phone: (306) 953-2993 Don MacAulay Parks and Special Places SERM Regina Phone: (306) 787-2846 |
