ABERDEEN COMPLETES POTABLE WATER PIPELINE

The residents of Aberdeen now have a safe, clean and reliable supply of drinking water thanks to the Highway 41 Water Utility and SaskWater, who have completed a pipeline from Saskatoon to Aberdeen.

"Safe, reliable drinking water is essential for the continued growth in our communities," Minister responsible for SaskWater Nancy Heppner said. "This project will help accommodate that growth and greatly improves the quality of life for Saskatchewan residents."

"Our Government is proud to contribute to this project which brings a reliable water supply to Aberdeen and the surrounding community," said Member of Parliament Brad Trost, on behalf of Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. "This enhanced infrastructure will improve quality of life, as well as boost the regional economy for years to come."

Construction of the SaskWater $4 million transmission works was started in 2009 and the completed project includes a pipeline from Saskatoon to Aberdeen, a booster pump station and a meter building. The Town of Aberdeen started supplying potable water to its residents in early April. The Highway 41 Water Utility will connect to SaskWater's system and distribute water to rural residents in the R.M. of Aberdeen.

"Quality drinking water is an essential part of any successful community and we are proud to be able to provide it to our customers," SaskWater Acting President Mart Cram said.
