CPSP MINISTER JOINS WESTERN MINISTERS IN VANCOUVER TO TACKLE TOUGH CRIME ISSUES

Western Justice Ministers from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are meeting in Vancouver B.C. on Friday to discuss issues related to the administration of justice in all four provinces.

Saskatchewan Corrections, Public Safety and Policing Minister D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert will attend the meeting on behalf of the province.

"Keeping communities safe is a top priority of our government," Huyghebaert said. "We are committed to working with our counterparts to achieve this goal. By working together in areas of common interest we are able to move forward on issues that impact the safety and security of all Western citizens."

Topics being discussed include: amendments to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, improvements to the federal wiretap and lawful access legislation, amendments to the Sex Offender Information Registry Act, and ongoing efforts to target organized crime.
