News Release - October 18, 2002
ENSURE YOUR SASKATCHEWAN HEALTH CARD IS RENEWED
All eligible Saskatchewan residents should have now received a package in
the mail containing renewal stickers for their Saskatchewan Health Services
card. The sticker is for cards that expire on December 31st, 2002.
The new sticker validates the Saskatchewan Health Services card ensuring
that residents continue to have access to valuable health benefits. The
green renewal sticker must be placed on the upper right hand corner of
individual Saskatchewan Health cards.
It is also very important that residents review the personal information
provided with the stickers returning any corrections on the enclosed form.
"If a person needs a new card, we certainly will replace it," Assistant
Deputy Health Minister Lawrence Krahn said. "But, renewal stickers are a
much less costly way of renewing health cards."
This year's renewal package also includes: an organ and tissue donor
consent card and a red donor sticker to encourage residents to consider
this valuable gift (the organ donor consent should be signed and kept
together with the Health Services card); poison centre phone line stickers
that can be placed on the telephone for quick reference in case of an
emergency poisoning; and a pamphlet entitled "News You Can Use About Health
Services" which contains important information and contact numbers about
health services in the province.
If residents have not received their renewal package, they should contact
Saskatchewan Health, Vital Statistics and Registration branch, toll free at
1-800-667-7551 or, in Regina, at 787-3251.
