MINIMUM WAGE TO INCREASE DECEMBER 1, 2012

Employers and minimum wage earners are reminded that Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up effective December 1, 2012.

The Government of Saskatchewan will increase the province's minimum wage from $9.50 to $10 per hour, which will also result in a corresponding increase to the minimum call-out pay to $30.

"Saskatchewan's economy has been growing and it is only right that the minimum wage increase as well," Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said. "Minimum wage has increased by 25.8 per cent since 2007 - a significant increase in pay for working people in Saskatchewan."

This increase will affect approximately 22,000 minimum wage earners in Saskatchewan, representing approximately five per cent of the paid workforce in Saskatchewan.
