IMPROVING HIGHWAY 2 NORTH OF WAKAW

Resurfacing on sections of Highway 2 north of Wakaw is now underway.

The improvement project on Highway 2 is taking place on sections from 9 km north of Wakaw to 7.3 km north of the junction of Highway 320. The three sections to be resurfaced total 12.7 km.

In addition, grading and surfacing will take place on six intersections along this stretch. The contractor on this $900,000 project is ASL Paving Ltd. of Saskatoon.

The public is advised that there will be an occasional disruption of traffic during the construction period.

Other work in the Prince Albert area includes:

Highway 11 – resurfacing 9.2 km north of Duck Lake (complete)
Highway 55 – resurfacing 8.4 km east of Love (complete August 16th)
Highway 55 – resurfacing 3.7 km north of Big River (complete)
Highway 106 – resurfacing 16 north of Smeaton (underway August 10th)
Highway 349 – surfacing 14 km east of Naicam (complete)

"These projects are part of our commitment to building better highways," Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "We're working to rehabilitate some key transportation corridors in north central Saskatchewan to enhance safety, and support tourism and regional economic development."

Over the past three years, the province has invested $900 million in Saskatchewan's transportation network, improving 1,000 km of paved highways, upgrading 750 km of rural highways, and twinning 172 km on Highways 1 and 16.

This year's budget provides an additional $294.8 million to improve another 740 km of major highways and 30 bridges, and twin 53 km on Highways 1 and 16 this construction season.

Remember to slow to 60 km/h when passing through the construction Orange Zone, and watch for construction workers, signs and heavy equipment. For more information about construction in your area, view the provincial project map at: www.highways.gov.sk.ca.
