CADOTTE INQUEST

An inquest into the death of Alvin Cadotte will be held February 9th to 13th, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at the Yorkton Queen's Bench Courthouse, 29 Darlington Street East.

Mr. Cadotte, aged 40 years, died August 28th, 2002, while in custody of the Yorkton R.C.M.P.

Section 20 of The Coroners Act requires an inquest to be held into the death of any person who dies while an inmate in a jail, penitentiary, lock-up or correctional facility, unless the death was due to natural causes and was not preventable.

In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died and the medical cause of death, the coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future. Inquests are open to the public.

Coroner Jeff Grubb of Regina will preside at the inquest.
