News Release - May 10, 2005 MOORE INQUEST
An inquest into the death of Andrew Moore will be held May 24th-27th, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at the Saskatoon Queen's Bench Courthouse, 520 Spadina Crescent East.
Mr. Moore, aged 35 years, was fatally shot on April 30th, 2004, during an altercation with a Saskatoon Police officer. Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999, states that the Chief Coroner may direct that an inquest be held into the death of any person. In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died, the medical cause of death and the manner of death, the coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future. The purpose of the inquest is to provide a public hearing to examine, in detail, the events surrounding the death of Mr. Moore. Inquests are open to the public.
