NORTHERN ENTERPRISE REGIONS PUBLIC CONSULTATION PHASE BEGINS MAY 26

The Ministry of First Nations and Métis Relations begins the next phase of the implementation of Enterprise Regions in Northern Saskatchewan next week with public meetings in the communities of Beauval and Air Ronge.

"Our goal is to listen to the wisdom of northerners as we work together to capitalize on this time of exceptional economic strength and opportunity in Saskatchewan," First Nations and Métis Relations Minister June Draude said. "We simply cannot do this work without hearing the aspirations and opinions of the people that the new Enterprise Regions are going to benefit."

The public meetings are just one aspect of the process the Ministry of First Nations and Métis Relations is following to implement Enterprise Regions in the North with the guidance of Enterprise Saskatchewan.

The new regions will represent diverse economic stakeholders in key sectors of the region's economy, communities and other organizations to provide the focus and leadership necessary to build high-performing northern regions.

The first public meeting will be held in Beauval on May 26, in the Beauval Arena Mezzanine from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

A second public meeting will be held in Air Ronge on May 28, at the Elks Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
