IMPROVEMENTS TO HIGHWAY 11 SET FOR SUMMER

A tender has been awarded for resurfacing 19 km of Highway 11 near Kenaston in

the upcoming construction season.

"Work for this $1.9 million resurfacing project is anticipated to begin in mid-

June of 2001 and should be completed by late July," Highways and Transportation

Minister Maynard Sonntag said. "Completion of this job will require an

estimated 20 full-time workers."

The resurfacing project will take place on the northbound lanes from Dundurn to

8 km north, the southbound lanes for 7 km south of Dundurn and 4 km at

Kenaston.

Ramco Paving Ltd. of Regina was awarded this project.

This surfacing project was identified in the 2000/2001 Winter Tender Schedule

for Saskatchewan highway work, worth an estimated $90 million. The Winter

Tender Schedule ensures timely and efficient delivery of highway improvements

this spring.

"It's important to keep our high volume highways such as Highway 11 in good

driving condition," Sonntag said. "Motorists in this area will notice Highway

11 is much smoother once work is completed this construction season."
