News Release - September 29, 2010 HUNTERS IN SASKATCHEWAN WON’T BE CHARGED FOR NOT REGISTERING THEIR LONG GUNSEnvironment Minister Dustin Duncan assured hunters preparing for the upcoming hunting season that conservation officers won't be charging them for not registering their long guns. "We oppose charging law-abiding people for not registering their long guns," Duncan said. "Conservation officers will be focusing their efforts on educating hunters about Saskatchewan's hunting regulations and ensuring compliance with our wildlife legislation." He also noted that this approach complies with the federal government's extension to May 16, 2011, of an amnesty for possession of a non-restricted firearm without a valid license or registration certificate.
