NEW SERVICE CENTRE FOR MOOSE MOUNTAIN PROVINCIAL PARK

Keeping its promise to improve and enhance the provincial parks system, the Government of Saskatchewan announced today a $398,719 contract to G. Hahn Contracting Ltd. from Fort Qu'Appelle for the construction of a new service centre in Fish Creek campground at Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

Public consultation during recent years has identified a need for improved washroom and shower facilities in Saskatchewan parks. The construction announced today will replace the present service centre which is now more than 35 years old and no longer meets current building code or accessibility requirements.

"The new construction in Moose Mountain demonstrates our government's commitment to sustaining and enhancing Saskatchewan's provincial parks system," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said. "It will ensure all visitors to the campground have access to modern washroom and shower facilities."

The building is scheduled for construction during the 2009 park season and is expected to open for use in the spring of 2010.
