SASKCAT LAUNCHES ONLINE TRANSFER CREDIT GUIDE

It will be easier to find out which credits for post-secondary courses and programs are transferable among the province's learning and training institutions with a new online transfer credit guide. Saskatchewan Council for Admissions and Transfer (SaskCAT) unveiled the guide today. SaskCAT is a committee under Campus Saskatchewan that facilitates the efficient transfer of credits among many of the province's post-secondary institutions that make up the council's membership.

"The guide represents the ongoing efforts of the council to increase student mobility among institutions," Learning Minister Andrew Thomson said. "This flexibility supports life-long learning, encourages student achievement and contributes to a skilled work force that supports our growing economy. The Government of Saskatchewan is proud to support the important work of SaskCAT, and the council's continued efforts toward a seamless learning system in Saskatchewan."

"People are increasingly obtaining their education and training from a variety of institutions," Campus Saskatchewan Executive Director Philip Cameron said. "SaskCAT's online transfer credit guide makes it easier for learners and their academic advisors to understand which earned credits can be transferred among institutions. The guide aligns with a national trend that recognizes the importance of credit portability for learners to obtain the credentials that will help them realize their career goals."

The online transfer guide is available at www.SaskCAT.ca where visitors can enter a course name from an education or training institution, including some high school programs, to find out if there is an equivalent course or program at another Saskatchewan institution.

SaskCAT member organizations are Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission, Briercrest College, Dumont Technical Institute, First Nations University of Canada, Gabriel Dumont Institute, independent bible colleges, private vocational schools, regional colleges, Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, Saskatchewan Learning, Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation, the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan and SIAST.
