News Release - January 31, 2005 SASKATCHEWAN PARKS LAUNCH CENTENNIAL PARK PASSPORT CONTEST
Saskatchewan Parks has officially launched its Centennial Park Passport Contest as part of Saskatchewan's centennial celebrations.
"Saskatchewan people take a great deal of pride in our provincial parks," Saskatchewan Environment Minister David Forbes said. "Our parks are seen as models of environmental quality and an important legacy for future generations." All you have to do is pick up a 2005 Provincial Parks Guide & Passport, choose from the six categories, visit a participating provincial park, CAA Saskatchewan office or RV dealership to have your passport stamped, and enter for a chance to win. There will be cash and prizes worth more than $13,000 up for grabs. The contest is sponsored by Saskatchewan Environment, Recreational Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA), CAA Saskatchewan, Tourism Saskatchewan, various lessees in provincial parks, as well as businesses adjacent to parks. "The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) is pleased to join with Saskatchewan Parks in this contest," RVDA of Saskatchewan President Rick Switzer said. "I believe our participation in the contest is a great opportunity for us to help promote camping in Saskatchewan." The entry forms are included inside the 2005 Provincial Parks Guide & Passport. They will be available at Environment offices, Saskatchewan's 34 provincial parks, CAA Saskatchewan offices and participating RV dealerships. There are six different categories with varying prize levels people can enter to win. The contest is also available to out-of-province visitors. Passports can be stamped at all participating locations. "I'm pleased and proud to be part of the Centennial celebrations," Forbes said. "This contest provides a mechanism to increase travel around the province, not only to provincial parks but also to communities and businesses en route. What better way to celebrate the Centennial than to showcase our parks by giving people another exciting reason to visit." The contest begins on May 1st and closes September 15th, 2005. The draws for each category will take place in early October 2005. -30- For More Information, Contact:
