News Release - April 6, 2011 PROVINCE ANNOUNCES TOP FIVE FOR BEST SUMMER JOB EVERThe Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport revealed the top five in the race for the best summer job ever - the Saskatchewanderer. Andrew Konoff, Carley Winter, Clare Middleton, Karlee Goby and Merrissa Karmark were chosen, by the public, in the first round of voting. Their new videos are now posted on www.saskatchewanderer.ca as they continue to seek votes. This round of voting, on the top five, runs from April 6 to April 10 at 11:59 p.m. Nearly 4,000 votes were cast in the first round to narrow the field from 10 to five. "It's exciting to see the level of interest in this competition," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson said. "The best part is everyone who views one of these videos gets to see what these young people love about Saskatchewan and even learn something new about our province at the same time. That positive story will continue through the summer, when the Saskatchewanderer hits the road." The ministry is pleased to announce that CAA Saskatchewan will sponsor the Saskatchewanderer this summer - providing a CAA membership and other travel necessities. "We thought this was an excellent social media pilot project to get involved with," CAA president and CEO Fred Titanich said. "Not only are we very pleased to help keep the student Saskatchewanderer safe on the road as they travel across our province this summer, but we are also happy to help tell a positive Saskatchewan story." There will be one more round of voting, once the field is narrowed to the top three, before the Saskatchewanderer is ultimately chosen. -30- For more information, contact:
