AGRICULTURE MINISTER TRYING TO LINK PRODUCERS WITH CUSTOM COMBINERS

The Ministry of Agriculture and Crop Insurance are working to assist producers in finding the additional help they may need to complete their harvest.

Crop Insurance and Saskatchewan Regional Agriculture offices are working to compile a listing of available custom combiners. Producers who are interested in doing custom work are encouraged to contact their local Crop Insurance or Regional Agriculture office to be added to the custom combining list. In turn, producers looking for help completing their harvest can also contact these offices to check the availability of custom combining operations in their area.

After a string of cold and wet days and with forecasters predicting warmer weather on the horizon, Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud knows producers are in a hurry to get their crop harvested before winter sets in.

"Mother Nature has really thrown a lot of producers into limbo, with the rain and snow these last couple of weeks," Bjornerud said. "I hope making this service available will help connect producers with the combining services they may need to get the crop in the bin as quickly as possible."

According to the latest Crop Report from Saskatchewan Agriculture, 77 per cent of harvest is completed. At this time last year, harvest was 96 per cent complete.
